The story behind
Tierracotta

Hi, I’m Emma Faye! I’ve been working with clay for 13 years, and for the last five years I’ve been based in Shoreditch, where I’ve had the joy of building a really special little creative community. Ceramics has always been my way of slowing down, staying curious, and connecting—with the material and with people.

The name is a little play on words, it comes from terracotta the clay, but also from tierra the Spanish word for earth. Looking to pay respects to my Latino heritage it felt right to choose a name rooted in the idea of earth and connection, something that nods quietly to my El Salvadorian roots while celebrating the material at the heart of everything we do.

I started this studio to create the kind of space I always wished for: welcoming, relaxed, and rooted in fun. I focus on hand-building techniques and believe making should feel accessible and comforting, whether it’s your first time touching clay or you’ve been at it for years. This studio is about showing up as you are, learning together, and making things handmade with cariño.
